Exotic Gardens of Bouknadel
At 20 km from Rabat, on the road of Kenitra, the Exotic Gardens of Bouknadel can be considered like a high historic place. Of an exceptional horticultural and artistic quality the exotic gardens of Bouknadel are considered among marvels of the kind. It is an invitation to the journey with plants and gardens coming from : Polynesia, China, southern Asia, Antilles, Japan, Andalusia, Mexico and Peru. An allegory of the diversity with ambiances contrasted allying lush flora and arid landscapes. On his course the visitor can discover a vivarium where lives in the conditions near of their natural habitat : snakes, lizards, turtles, ants, mygales. As for the aviary it shelters various species of birds like the pink flamingos and tropical origin species. All it has for objective, to encourage the public, especially youngest, to become aware of fauna and flora that surrounds them and to become actors sensitized to the natural species wealth and the necessity to preserve their environment.
Today, the success of these gardens passes borders, since they are listed in the french well known «Guide of the Routard». Classified as national natural heritage in 2003, the exotic gardens of bouknadel welcome more than 100,000 visitors per year. |
